About Dr. Pimienta
Dr. Maria Pimienta is joining us as the new Assistant Superintendent of K-12 Instruction and Human Resources. She has a long professional history having worked in various administrative and instructional positions throughout her tenure. She began as an English teacher in LAUSD. Since that time she has served as a teacher on special assignment, high school assistant principal, and k-8 principal in Santa Ana Unified School District. Just prior to joining us she served as principal in Lynwood Unified School District for the past two years.
In addition to holding both teaching and administrative services credentials, Dr. Pimienta holds an Ed. D in Educational Leadership and completed the ACSA Personnel Administrators Academy, ACSA Personnel Institute, and the ACSA Equity Institute. Dr. Pimienta also completed the two year executive development program: National Institute of School Leadership and attended the Women in Education Leadership Institute at Harvard University.
Dr. Pimienta’s commitment does not just stop at the school site. She is a strong advocate for equity and access for every student. She was recently recognized in March of 2018 at the Equity in Education Leadership event at USC. Dr. Pimienta also received the Woman to Watch Award by Connected Women of Orange County in 2017, and was recognized by the California Legislature Assembly, California State Senate, and also California State Board of Equalization in 2017.
A native of this community Dr. Pimienta grew up just a couple miles away.
